Welcome to InsightRPG

Welcome

InsightRPG is a tabletop exercising (TTx) system that aims traditional tabletop roleplaying at business strategy. It's a hands-on way to stress-test strategy and risk inside your organisation - teams think, argue, and decide together while the mechanics stay light enough for real problems to lead the session.

Design Principles

Five principles shaped every design decision.

Simple

Understand the system in 10 minutes. Rules stay out of the way so players focus on the exercise, not the mechanics.

Familiar

GMs get up to speed fast. No reinvented wheels. If you've played DnD, you can play this.

Modular

Scales to fit the situation. Add or remove rules as your exercise demands.

Pragmatic

Works for beginners out of the box. Scales up for experienced facilitators via modular add-ons.

Insightful

Thinking over crunchy mechanics. Discussion and better decisions over number-crunching.

About The Long Game Project

In 2023, we designed over 130 scenarios for organisations with a combined market cap of $3.4 billion, hitting a Net Promoter Score of 74.9 (world class). Scaling this practice takes more trained professional GMs. Organisations and governments are already picking up tabletop gaming for decision-making, leadership, risk, operations, strategy, and team building - tomorrow's leaders grew up taking games seriously, and the professionals running those sessions need to get the culture right.

How to Use This Guide

This is a reference, not a linear read. Jump to what you need:

  1. Learn to play. Start with the basics: what you need, how the dice work, the general rules. Enough to run your first session.
  2. Create a character. Work through character creation: person or entity, archetype, core skills, and abilities.
  3. Run the game. If you're taking the GM chair, there's a dedicated section. The GM guides the flow and keeps the game in balance.
